At Skribe, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our writing application and related services.
Summary: We collect only what we need to provide our service. Your writing content belongs to you, and we never sell your personal data to third parties.
Our Promise to Writers
Your writing belongs to you. Period.
We built Skribe for writers, and we understand that your manuscripts, notes, and creative work are deeply personal. We want to be absolutely clear about how we treat your content:
- We never train AI models on your writing. Your stories, characters, and ideas are never used to train, fine-tune, or improve any artificial intelligence system—ours or anyone else's.
- We never share your content with third parties. Your manuscripts and creative work are never sold, licensed, or provided to other companies, researchers, or services.
- You retain full ownership and copyright. Everything you create in Skribe remains your intellectual property. We claim no rights to your work.
- AI features are optional and isolated. When you choose to use AI assistance, your queries are processed but never stored or used beyond that immediate interaction.
This isn't just policy—it's a fundamental commitment to the writers who trust us with their work.

We use the information we collect to:

- Process transactions and send related information
- Send you technical notices and support messages
- Respond to your comments and questions
- Analyze usage patterns to improve user experience (aggregate statistics only, never your actual content)
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues
How We Handle AI Features
When you choose to use Skribe's optional AI assistant:
- Your query and relevant context are sent to our AI provider to generate a response
- These interactions are not stored, logged, or used for training purposes
- Your content is never used to improve or train AI models
- You can disable AI features entirely in your account settings
The AI assistant is designed to help you think through problems, not to write your story. It's a tool you control, and it only activates when you explicitly request it.
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell, license, or share your creative content. Your manuscripts, notes, concordance entries, and other writing content are never provided to third parties for any purpose.
We may share limited account and technical information in the following circumstances:
With Your Consent
We may share information when you direct us to, such as when you invite collaborators to your projects or generate a reader link.
Service Providers (Technical Operations Only)
We work with third-party service providers who need access to limited information to provide services to us. These providers do not have access to your creative content:
- Auth0: Authentication and identity management (email, login credentials only)
- Stripe: Payment processing (payment information only)
- Cloud hosting providers: Data storage and infrastructure (encrypted data storage)
Our service providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and may not use it for any purpose other than providing services to Skribe.
